Course description: Continuation of Nursing in Health and Illness II. Further study of medical-surgical health problems of the patient including concepts such as mental illness and clinical judgement model. Incorporates knowledge necessary to make the transition from student to graduate vocational nurse.    

 

Course outcome: Compare and contrast normal physiology of body systems to pathologic variations in the patient with medical-surgical health problems; evaluate and treat patients with medical-surgical health problems using the clinical judgement model including nutrition, pharmacological therapy, and principles of safety; discuss concepts such as mental illness; and utilize learned skills and knowledge for transition from student to graduate vocational nurse. 

 

Course prerequisites: Successful Completion of all courses of semester one and two of the Vocational Nursing program.

List of graded assignments: Six unit exams, ATI assessments: 70%, Daily grades (Ex: Quizzes, EAQ, ATI assignments, other assignments): 5%, Final Exam 25%   

Final grade scale:  A: 90-100

                                  B: 80-89

                                  C : 77-79

                                  D: 65-76

                                  F:  0-64

                              

Late work policy: Late work will not be accepted. A grade of zero will be recorded for late work. One make-up exam may be taken if the student is unable to attend and notifies the instructor prior to the exam time. Any exams on excess of one or without notification will be recorded as a zero.
