ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY FOR  ALLIED HEALTH  (VNSG 1420)

Corinth Campus          SPRING 2017

 

Class Time:     Fridays  8:00 AM until 12 Noon

                        If all of the material is covered, class may be dismissed earlier

Class Policies:

  1. Students are expected to attend class regularly as scheduled.

 

  1. A total of two (2) absences will be allowed regardless of reason.

          A third absence will cause an administrative withdrawal from the course.

          EMT clinical assignments are NOT an excuse for missing class.

          Leaving class/ lecture early will count as an absence.

 

  1. Students are to have downloaded a copy of the lecture notes from CANVAS prior to class.

          Notes will only be available on CANVAS for a limited time (several days before class and one day           after class).  Do not ask the instructor for notes for a class that you decided not to attend.

 

  1. Students should check for any class announcements on CANVAS. (Especially re: bad weather)

 

  1. Students are to be respectful of the instructor and other students. No vulgar language or rude           behavior will be tolerated.   (Remember, you are aspiring to be medical professionals.)

 

  1. Pertinent questions should be directed to the instructor.

 

  1. Patience with other students’ questions is expected behavior.

 

  1. Proper hygiene is required due to the close proximity of classmates.

 

  1. The classroom will be kept cool/ cold to inhibit germ incubation. Dress appropriately.

 

  1. Students will not be admitted to class late.

          It is disruptive of lecture and disrespectful to fellow students. 

          Students arriving after class has started must wait until the first class break to enter.

The course grade will be calculated as follows:       Average of Unit Exams ....................    70 %

                                                                                    Average of quiz grades......................   5 %

                                                                                    Comprehensive Final ........................   25 %

 

Letter grades will be assigned on the basis of the following numerical scores:  90 -- 100  =  A

                                                                                                                                    80 -- 89    =  B

(A grade of C or higher is required for LVN and ST program placement)          77 -- 79    =  C          

                                                                                                                                    66 -- 76    =  D

                                                                                                                           < 66    =   F

Grades are NEVER rounded or scaled.  76.99 = 74 = D

                                                                   89.99 = 89 = B

Testing Information:

-   There will be a total of six (6) unit exams consisting of multiple choice questions. 

 

-   Students must provide their own pencils, eraser, and ink pen. 

 

-   The instructor will hand out scantron sheets with each exam.

 

-   Scantron answers must be marked in PENCIL for the grading scanner to recognize markings.

 

-   In the event that a student wishes to change his/her answer on the scantron sheet during the           testing period, the student must erase his/her initial response completely, fill in the appropriate           space in pencil and circle their final selection in INK. 

          Changed answers not circled in INK will be counted as incorrect. 

 

            Reminder ----To change a scanton answer:      1.   Erase incorrect answer completely

  1. Pencil in your final answer selection
  2. Circle final answer selection in ink

 

-   Exam scantrons will be machine-graded. 

 

-   Exam scantrons will be doubled checked by the instructor for grading accuracy.

 

-   Quizzes are done at 0800 when scheduled.

 

-   Missed quizzes will not be made up and a grade of zero (0) will be given.

 

-   All make-up examinations will be given on the same day as the Final Exam. 

 

-   A student may only miss and make-up one (1) unit exam. 

          The second missed unit exam will receive a grade of zero (0).

 

-   Make-up exams will cover the same content but may be different from the regularly scheduled exam

 

-   All grades will be posted on CANVAS.  FERPA regulations will apply.
