A study of the principles of child growth and development from conception through adolescence.  Focuses on physical, cognitive, social and emotional domains of development.

2.       Students that successfully complete this course will  be able to identify the typical stages of cognitive, social, physical and emotional

theories of development.

4.      Students that successfully complete this course will be able  to discuss the impact of developmental processes on educational practices.

5.      Students that successfully complete this course will be able to identify the sages of play development (i.e. from solitary to cooperative) and the important role of play in young children’s learning and development. 

6.      Students that  successfully complete this course will be able to demonstrate skills in practical application of developmental principles and theories, observation techniques and recognition of growth and development patterns.

Grading Policy & Procedures

Grading will be based on a   1000 Point Scale

There are five Parts in the course just as designated in your textbook.  NOTICE:  .My Virtual Child is packaged with your textbook in the bookstore.

B                                     800 – 899  points

C                                     700 – 799  points

D                                     600 -  699 points

F                                      000 -  599

 

 

Grades will be determined on a 1000 point scale: 

·       14 Discussion Questions Blog (25 points each)     350 points

·         Activities/Assignments   100 points

·         4 Exams  (100 points each)                                     400 points

     Introduction My Virtual Child  25 points

     Virtual Child Journal Research     Paper                125 points

You can earn optional points at the beginning of the course…take advantage of it…it is good insurance in case you miss a lesson etc.

 

 

 

Late Work Policies

IMPORTANT:  You are required to "log-in" at least 3  times a week.  If you do not participate in the course or fall more than two weeks behind, you could be dropped from the course. 

 

Late work accepted with written doctor’s document or family crisis.  Contact the instructor of record if  you are in a crisis situation and it is affecting your performance in class.  Again, if you do not participate in the course or fall more than two weeks behind and have not been in contact with your instructor via e-mail so that we might come to a resolve, you could be dropped from the course.
