Faculty Member with 20+ years of experience working directly with students in the Business, Psychology, Sociology and Public Administration career fields using the methods of Face-to-Face, Hybrid, Blackboard, Canvas, and Moodle. Psychiatric Professional with 17+ years of experience working with Providers and Patients. Student success advocate with a passion for the development and implementation of systems and practices that inspire students to achieve personal and academic success.  

 
Professional Experience 

North Central Texas College, Gainesville, Texas. Adjunct Psychology Professor, August, 2019 – Present. Duties include: Teaching courses in General Psychology and Life Span & Development. Instruct students in the required discipline. Provide learning activities that stimulate student involvement and encourage critical thinking. Maintain regular office hours to assist students; respond to students’ emails and voice mails in a timely fashion; perform accurate assessments of student performance. Maintain professional competencies in the subject area and currency in instructional methodologies through professional associations and professional development. Demonstrate creativity and innovation in the field, service in the profession, and/or in the community. Effectively plan, organize, communicate, and exhibit interpersonal skills including the use of tact and discretion and the ability to meet deadlines. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and/or Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. 

 

Carrington College, Mesquite, Texas. Psychology Professor, April 2018 – August, 2020. Duties include: Teaching courses in General Psychology and Life Span & Development. Planning, evaluating, and revising curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Maintaining student attendance records, grades, and other required records. Supervising undergraduate and/or graduate teaching, internship, and research work. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students. Conducting research in certain fields of knowledge (COVID-19, Dialects), and publishing the findings in professional journals, books, and/or electronic media. Advising students on academic and vocational curricula, and on career issues. Selecting and obtaining materials and supplies such as textbooks. Collaborating with colleagues to address teaching and research issues. Compiling bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading. Participating in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities. Supervising students' laboratory and fieldwork. Performing administrative duties. 

Strayer University, Dallas, Texas. Psychology and Sociology Professor, April 2018 – August, 2020. Effectively taught knowledge-relevant college-level Psychology and Sociology courses, with a commitment to providing excellence in education. Presented course teachings in such a way that students are encouraged to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, increased motivation, developed a positive self-image, clarified values. Engaged in developing and improving curriculum offerings. On the first day of class, provided each student a copy of a course syllabus that conforms to University-approved requirements. Informed students of their course objectives and requirements, explained the grading system and attendance policy, and provided a bibliography of suggested readings. Participated in orientation sessions conducted each semester by the Division Head or Director, as applicable. Ensured that undergraduate students were aware of tutorial and support services of the Academic Support Center, which included advising, tutorials and first year programs, and all other departmental workshops associated with student learning. Other duties as assigned by Departmental Chair. 

University of Phoenix, Bossier City, LouisianaProfessor of Psychology and Sociology, January 2010 - March, 2015. Taught specialized courses in Sociology and Psychology. Implemented entrance, transition, and referral processes for new learners to use services effectively and appropriately. Assessed services and intervention effectiveness. Initiated internal referral systems for students needing services beyond SSS, including but not limited to the ACE, Disability Services, external counseling services, Financial Aid and other campus and community offices. Advised participants on career goals and graduate school participation. Provided individual academic skills workshops. Demonstrated acceptance and support of the mission and goals of the University. Southern University, Shreveport, Louisiana. Instructor. January, 2000 - May, 2008, August 2015 – August, 2020. Taught a variety of Public Administration, Psychology, and Sociology courses to undergraduate students. Developed grants and assisted with the accreditation process for the department and the overall university. Fulfilled academic advising responsibilities. Maintained an active research agenda.
