STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

At the successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

1.

Describe the stages of the developing person at different periods of the life span from birth to death.

2.

Discuss the social, political, economic, and cultural forces that affect the development process of the individual.

3.

Identify factors of responsible personal behavior with regard to issues such as sexual activity, substance abuse, marriage and parenting.

4. Explain the biosocial, cognitive and psychological influences throughout the

lifespan as an ongoing set of processes, involving both continuity and

Students should attend class to ensure the maximum benefit of learning the course information and understanding of concepts. If a students is absent, he or she should communicate with the instructor about why there is a need to be absent. For major tests, a student should absolutely not be absent unless there is a personal emergency or extreme illness. If the reason is approved, the student must make up the test before the next class meeting by making arrangements with the campus office staff. If there are more than 3 absences, the instructor may ask that the student be dropped from the course.

Major Research Assignment: Select a topic to research using the most current scholarly sources. Prepare a visual presentation. Cite all sources using APA format. More details will be given on a separate hand-out. Select a topic from the following list, unless you have a topic approved by the instructor.
