14 Weekly quizzes @ 10 pts. 140
14 Applying Knowledge @ 10 pts. 140
1 Midterm 100
1 Final Exam 100
1 Group Project @ 90 pts. 90
30 Class Participation/Attend @ 1pt 30
Total Possible Points = 600
Grades are determined on the following basis:
A=90% 540 points or higher
B-80-89% 480-539 points
C=70-79% 420-479 points
D=60-69% 360-419 points
F=Below 60% Below 360 points
Applying Knowledge (A.K.): Fourteen Weekly AK assignments will be required and are worth 10 points each. These assignments are very brief typewritten assignments (1 to 2 paragraphs). These are found at the end of each chapter. Students will choose one question to write about. See syllabus for due dates. This assignment will be turned in on Canvas. Late assignment will not be accepted.
Group Presentation: Groups and topics TBA.
Weekly Quizzes: This course will have 14 Weekly Quizzes worth 10 points each. These can be assessed via Canvas and are taken after associated chapter reading has been completed.
See syllabus for due dates. No makeup assessments will be allowed.
Class Participation/Attendance: Attend and actively participate in all classes and discussions. Class participation points are based on this requirement.
Midterm- Will consist of T/F, Multi choice, matching and essay questions. Worth 100pts
Final Exam- Will consist of T/F, Multi choice, matching and essay questions. Worth 100pts. Not Comprehensive.

At the successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

Identify various research methods and their characteristics used in the scientific study of psychology.

Describe the historical influences and early schools of thought that shaped the field of psychology.

Describe some of the prominent perspectives and approaches used in the study of psychology.

Use terminology unique to the study of psychology.

5.

Describe accepted approaches and standards in psychological assessment and evaluation.

6.

Identify factors in physiological and psychological processes involved in human behavior.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance is expected and will be taken only during the first 15 minutes of class. After this time, you will be considered late and have to sign at end of class. Failure to do so, will result in being marked absent. Academic policies relating to attendance are followed as identified in the NCTC Student Handbook
