STUDENT HOURS (OFFICE HOURS)

Each week instructors have time set aside to meet with students outside of class. (Traditionally these times have been called “office hours”.) This is a time when a student may ask questions regarding the class, or discuss a particular problem/topic with an instructor one-on-one.  Student hours may be held in-person or online.  See below for instructions on where/when/how instructors will offer student hours in this class.

Students who wish to make an appointment to meet with the instructor will refer to the Canvas Home page icon named ‘WebEx Office Hours’.  This module contains a link to the Calendly scheduler.  Students will select a date and time as well as designate a location.  Location choices are: ‘in-person’, for those students who reside near the Bowie campus or ‘WebEx’, for those students that do not reside near the Bowie campus or prefer this meeting modality.  If WebEx is the selected location, the student will receive a confirmation email containing the required WebEx meeting link for the designated date and time (keep for your reference).

MATH TUTORING LAB

Students who need help with any math class can visit the NCTC Mathematics Lab to receive assistance.  There are math tutors available on every campus and online.  This service is free for all students enrolled in an NCTC math class. Sign up for an appointment or see the most current tutoring hours for all campuses at https://www.nctc.edu/math-lab

SUMMARY OF COURSE ASSIGNMENTS

List of graded assignments:

Integration assignments using Pearson My Lab & Mastering

End of Course Score in Math 1342                             70% or better = PASS; less than 70% = FAIL

Final grade scale:  The NCBM course will be graded on a P/F basis determined by the end of course grade in the corresponding MATH 1342 course and completion of assignments in the NCBM course.

Attendance/Participation: Failure to attend the NCBM portion of the course will likely impact your success in the MATH course.  A student may be dropped for non-attendance of the NCBM course which would result in being dropped from the MATH course.

PASS/FAIL End of Course scoring: Students will need to earn a passing grade in both the NCBM portion as well as the Master course Math 1342.  The NCBM comes with a PASS/FAIL end of course grade based on your end of course performance in the Master course: Math 1342 & your successful completion of the assignments in the NCBM course.  PASS is defined as earning an end of course score of 70% or better in each course.  FAIL is defined as earning an end of course score of less than 70% in each course.

Late work policy:  Do not ask to extend due dates. There will be no make-up assignments.

SEE CANVAS FOR THE COMPLETE COURSE CALENDAR, OUTLINE, DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF GRADED WORK, AND OTHER RELATED MATERIAL.
