Description
An introduction to internal, external, and atmospheric corrosion including terminology, causes of common corrosion problems in industry, and general remedies such as cathodic protection, protective coatings, material selection, and chemical treatments. 48 lecture hours.
At the conclusion of the course a student will be able to: Identify the various types of corrosion; describe corrosion control methods; apply corrosion theory to at least one corrosion problem and design a solution; describe corrosion characteristics of metals, alloys, plastics, and nonmetallics; and identify the major job markets in corrosion technology and identify the types and levels of certification in each field.
