Class meeting location, days, and times: Online course using NCTC Canvas and MyStatLab with scheduled proctored exams in an approved testing environment.
All notes, lecture videos, and assignments are posted online through Canvas and MyMathLab.
Exams are in person scheduled and proctored on the NCTC campus in the testing center or an approved testing environment. More information is in CANVAS about signing up and scheduling for the exams.
EXAM DATES:
MIDTERM EXAM: Week 5 – Due by Thursday, 7/6
FINAL EXAM: WEEK 10 - Due by Tuesday, 8/8
Course description: Collection, analysis, presentation and interpretation of data, and probability. Analysis includes descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. Use of appropriate technology is recommended.
Course prerequisites: Meet TSI college-readiness standard for Elementary Statistics; or equivalent

- Calculator Required: TI-36X Pro, TI-30XIIS or TI 83-84 Graphing Calculator are recommended

Students who need help with any math class can visit the NCTC Mathematics Lab to receive assistance. There are math tutors available on every campus and online. Final grade scale: 90 – 100% = A; 80 – 89% = B; 70 – 79% = C; 60 – 69% = D; Below 60% = F
*The final exam is a departmental comprehensive statistics exam and must be taken by all students. The final exam may also be used to replace the lowest unit exam grade.
Late work policy: Homework and Chapter Quizzes(In MSL) may be worked past their due date with a 10% late grade penalty. NO Make-up Exams will be allowed. They must be completed on or before their due date. If you miss an exam, you will receive a grade of zero.
After the final exam, there is NO more work a student can do to improve their grade.

COURSE POLICIES
Academic Integrity Policy:

The use of online math solvers with submitted work is considered academic dishonesty. Faculty members may document and bring charges against a student who is engaged in or is suspected to be engaged in academic dishonesty. Consequences for academic dishonesty may include:
- Zero on the assignment
- Failing grade for the course
Attendance Policy:

Withdrawal Policy
A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.
Last day to withdraw from a Summer III course with a “W” is: Monday, July 17, 2023.

- Compute and interpret empirical and theoretical probabilities using the rules of probabilities and combinatorics.

- Examine, analyze, and compare various sampling distributions for both discrete and continuous random variables.
- Describe and compute confidence intervals.
