Course description: Collection, analysis, presentation and interpretation of data, and probability. Analysis includes descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. Use of appropriate technology is recommended.
Course prerequisites: Meet TSI college-readiness standard for Elementary Statistics; or equivalent

MyLab Statistics (e-text included in MyLab Statistics): You can buy an access code through the bookstore OR you can buy access directly online through Canvas with a credit card.
TI-30X IIS or TI 83-84 calculator is required

Each week instructors have time set aside to meet with students outside of class. (Traditionally these times have been called “office hours”.) This is a time when a student may ask questions regarding the class, or discuss a particular problem/topic with an instructor one-on-one. Student hours may be held in-person or online. The office hours listed above are when I will be in my office on the Corinth campus. You are welcome to come in then without an appointment ahead of time. However, you may also make online appointments through WebEx during those times or contact me for alternate times if those listed do not work for you.
MATH TUTORING LAB
Students who need help with any math class can visit the NCTC Mathematics Lab to receive assistance. There are math tutors available on every campus and online. There will also be practice homework assignments each week, but these will not count in your overall grade.
Final grade scale: 90 – 100% = A; 80 – 89% = B; 70 – 79% = C; 60 – 69% = D; Below 60% = F
One graded homework grade and one online quiz grade will be dropped at the end of the semester. For this reason, late assignments may not be accepted. Please plan ahead and do assignments early so you are able to submit them on time.
Exams will be taken in person on campus or with a proctor. There will be a primary date, with optional alternate dates. The primary dates will have a room reserved on the Corinth campus at a given time (listed below). For the alternate dates you will need to make an appointment to take the exam in a testing center on any campus.
If you miss an exam, you must contact the instructor right away to see if any alternatives are possible.

An Exam Revision Assignment will be an optional assignment due near the end of the semester. You will have the opportunity to revise one exam to potentially get back half the points you missed on any question. Full instructions are posted in Canvas.
Exam Schedule
Exam #1: Primary date: Saturday, September 24 from 10am to 12pm. Alternate dates: September 20 – 23.
Exam #2: Primary date: Saturday, October 22 from 10am to 12pm. Alternate dates: October 18 – 21
Exam #3: Primary date: Saturday, November 19 from 10am to 12pm. Alternate dates: November 15 – 18.
Final Exam: Primary date: Wednesday, December 7 from 6pm to 8pm. Alternate dates: December 5 – 7.

COURSE POLICIES
Academic Integrity Policy:
Scholastic dishonesty shall include, but is not limited to cheating, plagiarism, academic falsification, intellectual property dishonesty, academic dishonesty facilitation, and collusion. The use of online math solvers with submitted work is considered academic dishonesty. Faculty members may document and bring charges against a student who is engaged in or is suspected to be engaged in academic dishonesty. Consequences for academic dishonesty may include:
- Zero on the assignment
- Failing grade for the course
Attendance Policy:
Regular and punctual attendance is expected of all students in all classes for which they have registered. For the online class, you will be considered to be “attending” as long as you are doing the work for that week. That includes, but is not limited to, accessing the PowerPoint lectures, working on practice homework, watching MyLab videos, uploading graded homework, and doing the online quizzes.
Withdrawal Policy
A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.
Last day to withdraw with a “W” is: Monday, October 31, 2022
