MyMathlab
MyMathlab is an online homework and course management system. The link is available on our Canvas course page. You can purchase an access code in bookstore or buy online using paypal or credit card. You will need to register for this right away. Once you have registered for myMathlab and are at the course page, click on Chapter contents, then find the section you want to learn, and you can read the etext, or watch the videos for a particular section. Then, you can work the homework problems. Alternately, you can click on “multimedia library,” where there are video examples and power point slides in addition to the textbook. These are broken up by Chapter not sections, but I find the chapter powerpoints a good resource.
Homework
Homework is submitted using mymathlab. Each homework question may be attempted 5 times. Each homework assignment is due at 11:59 pm on the due date. Students can work on the homework after the due date for 20% off up until 10:00 on the exam date. At that time all homeworks covered by the exam will be closed.
Quizzes
Quizzes are also submitted in Mymathlab. You can take each quiz up to 3 times. The highest grade will be counted (even if its not the most recent attempt). Quizzes are due at 11:59 on their due date. No late quizzes will be accepted.
Tests
There are four regular exams and a cumulative final. All tests will be taken at the Corinth campus on Saturday mornings 10-12. The test questions will be short answer. You will be given a formula sheet and any tables necessary. The test dates will be February 9, March 2, April 6 and May 4. The final will be May 11. If you cannot attend on these dates, you may take the exams anytime THE WEEK BEFORE the test date at the testing center at any of the NCTC campuses or at a library, military base, or other testing center. If you are taking the tests somewhere other than an NCTC testing center, you have to get the proctor to fill out a proctor form and get approval from me. The final is required and can be used to replace your lowest regular exam grade.
Excel
Excel assignments will be posted in Canvas, and you will upload your completed project in Canvas. There are Excel guidelines posted in Canvas and an Excel manual in MyMathlab. Most of your assignments will include a referral to this manual. Late excel projects will be counted off 10% per day. You can download Office products for free! (including EXCEL) here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office/default.aspx
