GRADING POLICIES

LATE WORK POLICY:

  • Homework and Chapter Quizzes (in MML) may be worked past their due date with a 10% late grade penalty.
  • NO MAKE-UP EXAMS will be allowed.  Exams must be completed on or before their due date.  If you miss an exam, you will receive a grade of zero.
  • After the last exam there is NO MORE WORK that a student can do to improve their grade.

HOMEWORK and QUIZZES will be assigned for all sections and will be completed in MyLab Math, an online homework and management system.  Each homework assignment will begin with a video lecture, which must be watched as part of the assignment.  These videos will serve as the lecture/instruction part of this course.  There will be no synchronous/live/video lectures, but there are plenty of opportunities to meet with your instructor and get one-on-one instruction during office hours.

EXAMS will be completed “in-person” in a proctored setting and on paper as directed by NCTC Math Department Policy.  Only scientific calculators will be permitted on the Exams.  Exams may be taken at any time as long as they are completed and returned to the instructor by the due dates.  I am aware that some students take online classes because they are a long distance away from the college or have work hours or other obligations.  As such, you have options for where and when you would like to take your exams as long as it is under the supervision of the instructor, an approved Proctor, or one of the NCTC Testing Centers.  Students will also need to communicate the way they wish to test.  More information about testing can be found in Canvas.

ANY MISSED EXAMS will earn a grade of zero.  There are no make-up exams, and there is no late testing after the test window closes.  If you are aware of a necessary absence, please plan with your instructor to schedule an EARLY EXAM.  The final exam is comprehensive and must be taken by all students or a zero will be recorded.
