Course description: In-depth coverage of security management practices, including asset evaluation and risk management; cyber law and ethics issues; policies and procedures; business recovery and business continuity planning; network security design; and developing and maintaining a security plan. 48 lecture hours + 32 lab hours

Final grade scale: 100
Late work policy: Each day an assignment is late will result in 5 points being taken off the submitted work. If an assignment is 10 days late, no credit will be given for that assignment.

COURSE POLICIES
Academic Integrity Policy:
Attendance Policy: Attendance is based on participation in the class, so you are expected to actively participate in the assignments and the graded discussion forums on a weekly basis. I also expect you to check your email every day on M-F for any additional content. Exams are not allowed to be turned in late (exam integrity). Discussion questions are only allowed opened during the week in which they are due.
Withdrawal Policy
A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.

Student Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of the course a student will be able to:
- Develop a security plan
- Establish suitable level of protection
- Determine legal issues
- Implement network security design
- Revise risk analysis and security plan.
Core Objectives:
- Describe information systems security (ISS), information assurance, and governance, and the importance of ISS policies.
- Recognize the relationship between business drivers and ISS policies.
- Identify the relationship between regulatory compliance requirements and ISS policies.
- Analyze how security policies help mitigate risks and support business processes in various domains of IT responsibility.
- Identify the role of an IT policy framework in meeting an organization's core values and business objectives.
- Describe different ISS policies.
- Describe issues related to ISS policy implementation and enforcement.
- Compare security policy framework components and approaches.
- Describe how to design, organize, implement, and maintain IT security policies.
- Describe the different issues related to defining, tracking, monitoring, reporting, automating, and organizing compliance systems and technologies.
