Course Description (NCTC Catalog):
A survey of the social, political, economic, cultural, religious, and intellectual history of the world from emergence of human cultures through the 15th century. The course examines major cultural regions of the world in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania and their global interactions over time. Themes include the emergence of early societies, the rise of civilizations, the development of political and legal systems, religion and philosophy, economic systems and trans-regional networks of exchange. The course emphasizes the development, interaction and impact of global exchange.

COURSE SUBJECT OUTLINE (Major Assignments, Due Dates, and Grading Criteria)
The course is graded along a points system. Each assignment is worth X points. Your grade is based off the total points you earn. The total number of point possible in this class is 1000. The division of points is listed above. To figure your percentage grade at any given time, look at the total number of points you have earned, divide that number by ten (10), and that is your grade.
Dates for assignments are listed on the Assignments page on Canvas. It is up to you to remember to do them. No assignment has less than a week to complete it, so you should find time somewhere in your schedule to complete the work. It is entirely up to you to finish your work. If you run into an issue completing assignments, you need to talk to me in person prior to the passage of the due date. Coming to me after the due date has passed, unless there are extreme extenuating circumstances, will result in you keeping a zero for the assignment. I do not accept late work.
No extra credit is anticipated for this class at this time.
Regular and punctual attendance is expected of all students in all classes for which they have registered. All absences are considered to be unauthorized unless the student is absent due to illness or emergencies as determined by the instructor. It is the student responsibility to provide documentation as to the emergency for approval and judgement by the faculty member. Approved college sponsored activities are the only absences for which a student should not be held liable and only when provided by a college official ahead of the absence. Valid reasons for absence, however, do not relieve the student of the responsibility for making up required work. Students will not be allowed to make up an examination missed due to absence unless they have reasons acceptable to the instructor. A student who is compelled to be absent when a test is given should petition the instructor, in advance if possible, for permission to postpone the exam. Student will be dropped from a class by the Registrar upon recommendation of the instructor who feels the student has been justifiably absent or tardy a sufficient number of times to preclude meeting the course’s objectives. Persistent, unjustified absences from classes or laboratories will be considered sufficient cause for College officials to drop a student from the rolls of the College. From Board Policy FC (LOCAL)

DISABILITY SERVICES (Office for Students with Disabilities)

Minimal punishment for academic dishonesty or cheating will be a zero for all assignments concerned for all involved parties. Other punishments may be handed out based upon the rules of both NCTC.
