Course description: A survey of the political, social, economic, cultural, and intellectual history of Texas from the pre-Columbian era to the present.  Themes that may be addressed in Texas History include: Spanish colonization and Spanish Texas; Mexican Texas; the Republic of Texas; statehood and secession; oil, industrialization, and urbanization; civil rights; and modern Texas.

Required course materials: Campbell, Randolph.  Gone to Texas:  A History of the Lone Star State. 3rd edition. Oxford University Press. ISBN: 978-0190642396

A = 90-100 Average

B = 80-89 Average

C = 70-79 Average

Late work policy:

There is no extra credit available. Grades will be based on above graded elements listed. Late work may be allowed for extreme or medical circumstances, with a reduction of points penalty. Late work is not allowed for Discussion Board Assignments. See late work policy details in posted documents on Canvas.

COURSE POLICIES

 

Academic Integrity Policy:

Scholastic dishonesty shall include, but is not limited to cheating, plagiarism, academic falsification, intellectual property dishonesty, academic dishonesty facilitation and collusion.  Consequences for academic dishonesty may include:

1) The student will receive a failing grade of "O" on the assignment. 

2) A "Scholastic Dishonesty Report Form" will be submitted regarding the incident.

3) Student may be dropped from the course with a failing grade (letter grade of “F”).

 

Attendance Policy:

Attendance will be measured through participation and completion of all Canvas assignments.

 

Withdrawal Policy

A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.

Last day to withdraw from the course with a “W” is: Monday, April 4th, 2022
