Course Description (NCTC Catalog):
A survey of the social, political, economic, cultural, and intellectual history of the United States from the Civil War/Reconstruction era to the present. United States History II examines industrialization, immigration, world wars, the Great Depression, Cold War and post-Cold War eras. Themes that may be addressed in United States History II include: American culture, religion, civil and human rights, technological change, economic change, immigration and migration, urbanization and suburbanization, the expansion of the federal government, and the study of U.S. foreign policy.

This class is online. The expectation is that students will log in at least two times each week. You should log in at the very least to read the announcements to see what is going on in this class. Failure to log in at least two times each week could affect your grade.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
This calendar includes all important dates for this semester. Here you will find every due date for every assignment. You need to be familiar with this calendar. You need to understand when assignments are due. You need to understand that I do not accept late work. If you do not complete an assignment by the due date, you will not receive any credit for that assignment.
You should note that for each of the four discussion forums, there are two due dates. The first due date (always a Thursday) is for your original post. This is the post that you make in response to the prompts you are given. The second due date (always a Sunday) is for your responses to classmates' posts.
You should notice a pattern in the assignments:
Tests 1, 3, and 4 are all on Tuesday/Wednesday. Test 2 will be available Friday-Sunday
before spring break.
All discussion forums have two due dates: Thursday (original post) and Sunday (response posts). Many students have been confused by an assignment with two due dates. If you have any questions, let me know immediately.
All chapter practice quizzes are due on Sunday evenings.
The Term Paper is due on a Sunday.
You have a significant number of assignments to complete for this course this semester. You should keep in mind that the due date for any assignment is the very last date it can be submitted for credit. Any assignment may be submitted before the due date. There are several weeks when you have two chapters to cover. Everything for those two chapters is due on Sunday evening. Manage your time well and get some of those assignments submitted early.
All assignments are due at 11:59 p.m. on the due date.
