Course Description:
A study of air conditioning system installation, refrigerant piping, condensate disposal, and air cleaning equipment with emphasis on startup and performance testing.
Course Prerequisites:
HART 1301 & HART 1307
Required Course Materials:
- Fundamentals of HVACR, 4th edition by Carter Stanfield and David Skaves
- Eye protection (safety glasses or face shield)
- Closed-toe shoes for participation in mandatory lab sessions

COURSE POLICIES
Academic Integrity Policy:
Scholastic dishonesty includes but is not limited to cheating, plagiarism, academic falsification, intellectual property dishonesty, academic dishonesty facilitation, and collusion. Faculty members may document and bring charges against a student who is engaged in or suspected of engaging in academic dishonesty. Attendance Policy:
Regular and punctual attendance is expected. Absences are unauthorized unless due to illness or emergencies as determined by the instructor. Contact the instructor prior to any absence or tardiness.
When attending class on campus, students should be dressed appropriately for lab activities, regardless of whether it is a scheduled lab day. Additionally, students are required to check their class email daily for important updates regarding class sessions, including time adjustments, planned activities, quizzes, or test information.
Students missing assignments due to absence will receive a "0" unless arrangements are made in advance. Late assignments will not be accepted.
Students may be dropped from a class by the Registrar upon recommendation of the instructor for excessive absences or tardiness. Persistent, unjustified absences may result in removal from the class.
Withdrawal Policy:
A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.

Student Learning Outcomes:
- Install air conditioning equipment and evaluate system performance.
- Demonstrate disposal and recycling of materials, including refrigerants and mercury.
- Demonstrate bending and cutting techniques for system piping.
- Learn to install equipment and ductwork according to industry standards and applicable building codes to maximize efficiency.
Important Program Notes:
All certificate and degree programs have a capstone exam and lab practical. This capstone process must be completed and passed before NCTC will award the certificate or associate degree. If you are completing your final core program course, consider scheduling your capstone.
