Emphasis will be placed on the organization and operation of correctional systems; treatment and rehabilitation; populations served; Constitutional issues; and current and future issues. 48 lecture hours.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

At the successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

 

Describe treatment and rehabilitative programs.

 

Evaluate current and future correctional issues.

 

Differentiate between the short-term incarceration and long-term institutional environments.

 

Describe the organization and operation of correctional systems and alternatives to institutionalization.

 

Identify the Constitutional rights applicable to the correctional setting.
