Course Description
Meets 8 weeks during the summer. Departmental approval required for registration in this course. Each student will be placed in the horse industry under the supervision of a prominent person who specializes in the student's main areas of interest. The student's industry training will be supervised by the instructor as well as their immediate supervisor on the job. This course serves as the external or capstone experience. 0 lecture hours + 144 practicum hours. At the conclusion of the course a student will be able to: As outlined in the learning plan, apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry; and will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry.
