Course Description
Basic concepts of equine veterinary care will be taught. The course will be a survey of equine veterinary medicine from the physical exam to medical terminology, preventive medicine and pharmacology as well as basic principles of alternative therapies, diagnostic imagery, medical records and client communication. 32 lecture hours + 32 laboratory hours. At the conclusion of this course a student will be able to: Calculate correct drug dosage for frequently used equine pharmaceuticals; Design a vaccination protocol for different types of equine operations; Interpret clinical pathology results; and Explain proper restraint methods of an equine patient for various veterinary procedures. Prerequisites: AGEQ1411 and AGEQ2311.
