An introduction to the automotive industry including automotive history, safety practices, shop equipment and tools, vehicle subsystems, service publications, professional responsibilities, and basic automotive maintenance. May be taught manufacturer specific.Upon course completion, stuents will be able to utilize appropriate safety procedures; describe historical development and career information of the automotive industry; demonstrate safe, professional, and responsible work practices; demonstrate the proper use of shop equipment and tools; describe the eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) vehicle subsystems; use service information; and perform basic automotive maintenance.Associated Industry Credential: ASE G1 Maintenance and Light Repair.32 lecture hours + 64 lab hours
