Extra readings from web articles are assigned and loaded onto canvas to benefit further exploration in the arts, especially drawing.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

After successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

be able to incorporate the principles of drawing and design into drawing practices.

introduce and familiarize themselves with foundational drawing media and techniques.

be able to appreciate drawing as a creative process as well as means to more in-depth creative problem solving for foundational as well as advanced studio classes.

develop your ability to translate visual relationships in dimensional space onto a 2-d surface.

10% deductions are given after Fourth Absence occurs!

Following this deduction,

consecutive Absences includes a reoccurring 5% deduction!!

If you miss a class this reduces the total time we have together!!!!

 

A doctor’s note the only way to prevent this deduction on late assignments because of sickness and emergency!

Projects

Each assignment (work of art) has a set of instructions. These instructions are assigned to gain knowledge and handling of materials, study of specific content, and art styles. Expectations are that you follow these requirements, with allowances to include your interests of study.

 

Critique

You are to show and talk with the class about the design, content, and context of each work of art you make. During a critique our expectation is that you show personal desires of study and interest in-class. These fascinating interests and choice differences are to be discussed in critique to reason the decisions made. You are to show and talk with the class about the design, content, and context of each work of art you make.

 

Grading of Projects

Your grade reflects a willingness to fulfill each assignment to the best of your abilities, and push beyond preconceived inabilities. Each project has specific requirements this amounts to one of the highest regards for our study. Grades reflect your technical craftsmanship, composition, creativity, ability to articulate correct art terminology, discuss the reasons for each design, and ability to proactively discuss others’ artworks.

 

Sketchbook

You are to fill this entire book to meet 20% of your final grade requirement. This is highly productive assignment. It is similar to a rough draft for an author, we can see the process to formulate ideas and see them become a reality. This book is a personal log of your mind. Use this assignment for a location to work out issues in your wonderful life/dreams, discovery in the arts, and all studies that fascinate you.
