Course Description: A course open to all students directed toward understanding the elements and principles of art as applied to the visual arts: painting, sculpture and architecture as well as printmaking, ceramics, metal work and weaving.

List of graded assignments: Your final grade will be derived from your Quiz scores (21), Discussion Boards (6), Tests (6), Writing Assignment and cumulative Final Exam. Each of these categories count for 20% of your course score.

Final grade scale:  90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 = C, 65-69 = D, below 65=F

Late work policy: Late work is accepted at the professor’s discretion (you may receive partial credit). Please contact the professor if you need an extension on an assignment.

Academic Integrity Policy

Scholastic dishonesty shall include, but is not limited to cheating, plagiarism, academic falsification, intellectual property dishonesty, academic dishonesty facilitation and collusion.  Faculty members may document and bring charges against a student who is engaged in or is suspected to be engaged in academic dishonesty.  See the Student Handbook linked here for more details.

Consequences for academic dishonesty may include

  2. Dropped from Class

Attendance Policy

Course attendance comes from your participation in the online content (Quizzes, Discussion Boards, Tests, the Writing Assignment and Final).

Withdrawal Policy

A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.

Last day to withdraw from the course with a “W” is: November 6, 2023

Student Learning Outcomes

To develop the critical thinking and analytical skills required to appreciate art and improve analytical writing skills.
