Course description: A study of accounting for merchandising, notes payable, notes receivable, valuation of receivables and equipment, and valuation of inventories in a manual and computerized environment.

Course prerequisites: ACNT 1303

Required course materials: Fundamental Accounting Principles by John Wild, 25th edition with connect lab.

                                    Practice Assignments/Discussions/Activities – 30% of total grade  

                                    Unit Exams – 35% of total grade

Final grade scale: 

                                    A – 90% - 100%

                                    B – 80% - 89%

                                    C – 70% - 79%

                                    D – 60% - 69%

                                    F – 0% - 59%

     

Late work policy:       Late work is accepted for Homework Assignments, Practice Assignments, and Activities but must be completed by December 7, 2022. 

                                    Discussions are due weekly and not accepted late.

                                    Unit Exams will not be accepted late and there will be no make-up exams.

COURSE POLICIES

Attendance Policy: Attendance in your online course will be measured by the completion of graded assignments by their suggested due dates.  Students who fail to log in regularly and participate in online course assignments will be reported to the college as non-attending students.

 

Non-attendance may impact your Financial Aid.

 

Withdrawal Policy

A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.

 

Last day to withdraw from the course with a “W”:  November 18, 2022

 

Student Learning Outcomes: At the successful completion of this course the student will be able to: 1) Define accounting terminology; analyze and record business transactions for a merchandising operation in a manual and computerized environment, 2) Calculate interest; apply valuation methods for receivables and payables, 3) Utilize various inventory and depreciation methods, and 4) Identify internal control procedures for inventory, receivables, and payables.
