Presentaciones de investigación

These will be frequent, short presentations based on topics related to the cultural, historical or social

context of the materials being discussed. You will receive a rubric and detailed information about these

as they come up in the semester.

Composiciones

These will be critical reviews of texts: part summary, part critical analysis. You will receive a rubric and

detailed instructions for each composition.

Preguntas orales impromptu

Part of the goals for this level are to evaluate non-practiced speaking. You will receive a topic related to

the materials being discussed, a brief time to organize your thoughts, and then must speak about the

assigned topic for the required length of time. You will not know the topic beforehand because this must

be impromptu speaking.

Tarea

The homework activities will have two parts, and the work must be turned in at the start of class or sent

via email or Canvas before the start of class.

1) You will read a short article in Spanish, listen to a radio segment or podcast, or view a short video clip

and summarize it in a paragraph in Spanish (8-10 sentences). The videos can be a news clip online or part of a show or newscast on TV. Univision and Telemundo are widely available channels and websites. I recommend you check the culture, health, food or entertainment sections. There are a variety of podcasts and radio stations you can listen to. For articles, Univision, Telemundo, a Spanish newspaper or Hablacultura are good sources to check.

2) You will write a paragraph about the day’s topic (8-10 sentences)
