Hello all,

This is an introductory letter to you to introduce myself and let you know what my expectations for my classes will be.  First off I will be your Clinical Coordinator, so all clinical courses will be through me.  I am your liaison between you and your clinical site.  In clinical, I do expect the most from you.  I do not tolerate rules to be bent; this is because you are dealing with real patients and I expect the rules to be followed as described in the handbook.  All of the clinical sites are different, but I hope that you feel you can come to me to discuss issues.  I really am on your side, as well as, the hospitals and want you to succeed.  I will not set you up for failure.  I am very forth coming, so if you are behind I will tell you.  If I need to see you improve, I will tell you.  That doesn’t mean that I am mad at you personally.  I will just be frank if I expect more from you and will do so to help you improve.  I will tell you what is needed to succeed, so that you can become the best radiology technologist.  You represent not only yourselves in clinical but this program and that carries with you throughout your career.  So again yes, I will expect you’re very best.  I tell you from the beginning to jump in and try.  What’s it going to hurt?  Stay busy, you are there for the experience not to make friends.  Clinical is very hands on, and you will gain so much from your time there.  Take advantage of it, the good with the bad.  We all start off as students; we all have been in your shoes.

In the classroom I will be your instructor for the following courses:

Patient Care, Imaging I & Imaging II, and Adv. Medical Imaging.

I teach most of my classes in the same manner.  I didn’t write these books or come up with this information on my own.  Yes, the course work will be difficult.  The subject matter is difficult, but again I do not set you up for failure and try to give you all that you need to succeed, not only in class but also for the registry.  If at any time you feel like you are struggling and need extra help, please don’t hesitate to ask.  I do expect you to be prepared every day for class.  That means read from your textbooks the chapters.  My exams are not only based off my Power points but reflect the reading assignments as well.  I expect you to do your best and to complete work on a college level with your best effort.  I hope that you ask questions, but I am only human and may not always have the answer.  But in the end we will find the correct one.  I try to make the classes as fun and entertaining as possible.  We will do group activities, review games, and extra projects to help the information be retained.  You can do this, don’t give up.

Alright, now that business is out of the way I’d like to tell you a little about myself.  I hold a Master’s degree in Radiology and have been teaching here since the very first class.  I worked in the field in several areas; x-ray, CT, bone densitometry, and mammography.  I love my profession and what I do.  I do have two kids and a bloodhound, so you may have to indulge in some topics about my family.  I love sports, almost of all kinds and will not hold your sport choices against you.  I like the outdoors, the lake, camping, and vacations.  I have been told I have a morbid since of humor.   During these 21 months you will find out many things about me.  I look forward to getting to know all of you better.
