INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING GOALS
□ A quality general education curriculum in all associate degree programs.
□ Quality freshman and sophomore level courses in arts and sciences which parallel the lower division offerings of four-year colleges and universities.
□ Quality technical programs leading directly to careers in semi-skilled and skilled occupations, and quality technical education programs up to two years in length leading to certificates and associate degrees.
□ Quality programs and services in support of adult literacy and basic skills development as a means of workforce enhancement and expanding access to higher education.
PROGRAM PURPOSE STATEMENT
NCTC seeks to implement its goal of providing quality technical programs leading directly to careers in semi-skilled and skilled occupations, and quality technical education programs up to two years in length leading to certificates and associate degrees by offering a coherent sequence of courses with appropriate breadth and depth to prepare students for success in the workforce.
DEPARTMENTAL PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Radiologic Technology department prepares students for licensure, introduces students to advanced imaging modalities, instills value in advanced degrees in the healthcare profession, and encourages graduates to advanced degrees.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
End-of-Course Outcomes:
- Define basic medical terms;
- Identify ethical and legal standards;
- Explain basic radiation protection practices; and
- Relate the role of radiography to health care.
NOTE: Your textbook contains chapter specific objectives that will be helpful in providing direction. Please review these objectives along with the chapters prior to the date scheduled for the content to maximize comprehension and retention of course materials. All of the content within the textbook is testable material for the portion of the course in which it is assigned.

Course Assignments
Student Rights & Responsibilities
|
Introduction - Students will complete a minimum half-paged, double spaced word document introducing themselves to the instructor and class. Each submission will be posted on a public thread. Submissions must include: name, favorite hobbies, favorite places to travel, favorite food/place to eat, and why you want to be a radiologic technologist. This assignment is intended to be fun and stress free. You may include any additional information about yourself. Be creative and have fun!
Quizzes and Exams - All quizzes and exams will be timed. Students will not be allowed to use their textbook for exams. Quizzes are designed to prepare students for exams. Students may use the textbook for quizzes. Students must be prepared for all quizzes and exams prior to due dates. Due dates are when quizzes and exams will expire. Students must submit quizzes and exams prior to 12:00 a.m. on the due date listed in Canvas. Any student who is unable to submit their quiz or exam by the due date must inform the instructor prior to the due date.
Attendance: The student has the responsibility to regularly login and check the class page on Canvas. Students must login a minimum of 3 times per week. Discussion questions/topics will be posted regularly throughout the semester. Students are expected to reply to ALL discussion questions/topics. This will be part of your final grade. There is no minimum length for responses, but the instructor expects college level effort.

Early Alert and CARES
The NCTC Early Alert program assists students who are at risk of failing or withdrawing from a course. Faculty and staff may refer students through the Early Alert process at any point in the semester in an effort to provide appropriate intervention and access to support services. Examples of behaviors that could prompt an Early Alert referral could be missing assignments, failing tests, excessive absences, or personal circumstances impacting academic performance. A
