Course description: The First Year Experience Course is a required non-credit, 4-week course designed to provide students with the tools needed to persist and succeed at North Central Texas College. Topics covered in the course include: NCTC technology, campus resources, college classroom expectations, study techniques, test-taking, financial literacy, and campus safety resources. First time college students (excluding dual credit) are required to pass NCTC 1001. The course does not satisfy requirements for any degree plan at NCTC, has no prerequisites, and is non-transferable.

Late work policy:
Your grade will be based on the above graded elements listed above. Late work will not be accepted unless there are extenuating circumstances. Contact your professor within a timely manner to discuss options if there have been extenuating circumstances that impacted you completing assignments.

COURSE POLICIES
Academic Integrity Policy:
Scholastic dishonesty shall include, but is not limited to cheating, plagiarism, academic falsification, intellectual property dishonesty, academic dishonesty facilitation and collusion. Consequences for academic dishonesty may include:
1) The student will receive a failing grade of "O" on the assignment. If the assignment is within a group in which the lowest assignment is dropped, the assignment will not be able to count as a dropped score. It will count as part of the grade.
2) A "Scholastic Dishonesty Report Form" will be submitted regarding the incident
3) Student may be dropped from the course with a failing grade (letter grade of “F”)
Attendance Policy:
If you are absent more than 4 classes you will be dropped. Class starts at 9:30 and attendance will be taken at 9:35. If you are not present when attendance is taken, you are absent.
Withdrawal Policy:
A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.
Last day to withdraw from the course with a “W” is February 17, 2023.
