ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION POLICY
Regular and punctual attendance is expected of all students in all classes for which they have registered. Students are responsible for keeping up with what occurs in class when they are absent. Regardless of the reason for the absence, the student is expected to review the material and concepts covering the missed material prior to the next class meeting, and to submit work by assigned due dates
Dropping a course is the student's responsibility, but you MAY be dropped for excessive absence. Each class is 1 hours and 20 minutes. Student missing more than 6 hours of class may be withdrawn from the course.
See Attendance Regulations in the North Central Texas College Catalog.

Full participation in class discussion and class work is expected and an important component of active learning. Participation is a component of your effort grade. The effort grade includes reading assignments, notes, homework, in class activities (other than quizzes), and attendance.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
Tentative Test Schedule: 2/14 3/23 5/2 Final Exam: 5/11
Monday, January 16, 2017 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (School closed)

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION
The effort grade includes reading assignments, notes, homework, in class activities (other than quizzes), and attendance. Each week students will have assigned reading to complete before activities in class that reinforce the reading. The reading assignment pages are available in Canvas. It is essential that the reading is complete in order for students to fully participate in the activities and to deepen their own understanding of the concepts.
Quizzes: Although quizzes may be administered in Canvas, most quizzes will be pencil and paper assignments that will be completed in class. Quizzes cover material from the assignment, homework or classwork concepts. There are no makeup quizzes.
Classwork assignments are due in class. A classwork assignment will be accepted if submitted by the following class session. A zero grade will be assigned to classwork submitted any later than this.
Exams: You may bring a 3 x 5 note card and a calculator to each exam. However, you may be restricted from using one or both for portions of an exam.
The final exam is required of all students. It is comprehensive and may replace the lowest test score.
Scholastic Integrity
Scholastic integrity includes both ethical and scholarly behaviors that promote fairness, trust, and learning at the college. Scholastic dishonesty shall include, but not be limited to cheating on a test, plagiarism, and collusion. See Student Handbook “Student Rights & Responsibilities: Student Conduct [FLB (LOCAL)]” #20 on page 175.
Consequences of scholastic dishonesty may include but are not limited to:
- A score of zero on the assignment, which will not be dropped.
- Automatic failure in the course.
- A formal report filed with the college.
- Suspension or expulsion from the college.
The instructor reserves to amend the syllabus at any time during the semester. Any changes disseminated in class will take precedence over this document.
