Course description: This stand-alone course is an interdisciplinary survey of cultures focusing on the philosophical and aesthetic factors in human values with an emphasis on the historical development of the individual and society and the need to create.

Course prerequisites: None

Martin, Jacobus. Humanities Through the Arts. 10th Ed.  **NOTE** You must purchase this book through the McGraw Hill website. Use the link to the first reading assignment to take you where you need to go.

Students must also pick a novel from the approved list. Novels are available through the library or may be purchased.

Late work policy:

 

All work is due on the posted due date. Late work will lose 15 points per day for up to two days past the due date. At that point, the assignment will close and no other submissions will be considered. Textbook assignments are not eligible for the two day grace period.

 

***NOTE*** Any student who does not complete all three unit projects, a term paper, and a reflection assignment will automatically fail the course, regardless of their grades on the other assignments.

COURSE POLICIES

 

Academic Integrity Policy: The NCTC policy is posted in the modules. Students are expected to read and adhere to the policies listed in the document.

Attendance Policy: Online students must keep up with the due dates and assignments. Face to face students must attend every session. More than three absences for the semester may result in the student being dropped from the course. Attendance will be taken at the start of class. Any student not present when their name is called during the calling of attendance will be counted absent.

Withdrawal Policy

A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.
