Course description: A survey of the social, political, economic, cultural, and intellectual history of the United States from the Civil War/Reconstruction era to the present. United States History II examines industrialization, immigration, world wars, the Great Depression, Cold War and post-Cold War eras. Themes that may be addressed in United States History II include: American culture, religion, civil and human rights, technological change, economic change, immigration and migration, urbanization and suburbanization, the expansion of the federal government, and the study of U.S. foreign Policy.

- **NOTE** The LearnSmart reading assignments count for 0% of your grade. The reading quizzes are the only grades you have over the readings.

- A: 90+
- B: 80+
- C: 70+
- D: 60+
- F: <60
Late work policy:
All work for a unit is due on the final day of that unit. Late work will be accepted up to two days past the due date for the assignment, with a penalty of 15 points per day. The final unit assignments receive only a 2 day extension, due to the end of the semester. After the late turn in window closes, no more submissions will be accepted. Book assignments will not be accepted past the due date, and will not be reopened once the due date has passed.

Academic Integrity Policy:
There is ZERO tolerance for violations of the NCTC Academic Honesty policy. Any violation will automatically result in a 0 for the assignment, and may result in a failing grade for the course. See the Academic Honesty page in the Welcome module for a list of prohibited activities.
**NOTE** The use of AI on any assignment is strictly prohibited and will be considered a violation of the Academic Honesty policy. Students caught using AI will receive a 0 for the assignment.
Attendance Policy:
Students are required to attend all sessions. The participation portion of the grade will suffer significantly if a student misses more than 2 sessions. If a student has 4 or more absences, he or she will receive 0 points for participation for the semester and may be dropped from the course.
Withdrawal Policy
A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.
Last day to withdraw from the course with a “W” is: April 1st
