Course description: A survey of the social, political, economic, cultural, and intellectual history of the United States from the pre-Columbian era to the Civil War/Reconstruction period. United States History I includes the study of pre-Columbian, colonial, revolutionary, early national, slavery and sectionalism, and the Civil War/Reconstruction eras. Themes that may be addressed in United States History I include: American settlement and diversity, American culture, religion, civil and human rights, technological change, economic change, immigration and migration, and creation of the federal government.

Final grade scale:
There is a total of 700 points available for this course. This is the grading scale that will be used:
630 + points = A
560 - 629 points = B
490 - 559 points = C
420 - 489 points = D
Below 420 points = F
Late work policy:
I do not accept late work. I expect each student to accept responsibility for turning each assignment in on time. You know today when every assignment is due. I will remind you when assignments are due. You must make the effort to turn them in on time.

Academic Integrity Policy: I expect you to complete your own work. Cheating on any assignment will result in a grade of 0 on that assignment with no chance of making it up. Attendance Policy: There is no attendance policy for this class. I do expect you to log in regularly. Failure to do that will result in missing assignments that cannot be made up.
Withdrawal Policy
A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete a Withdrawal Request Form.
Last day to withdraw from the course with a “W” is: Thursday, February 17.
