COURSE POLICIES
Academic Integrity Policy:
Following are the types of disciplinary actions which may be invoked against students who are considered to be in violation of any of the College policies or regulations:
- Reprimand – A verbal or written warning to the student following the commission of a minor rule violation. Repetition of such misconduct may result in more severe disciplinary action.
- Probation – The placing of a student on notice that continued infraction of regulations may result in the consideration of suspension or expulsion from the College. Such probation may include social and behavioral restrictions upon the student in question. Probation may be for a specified length of time or for an indefinite period according to the relative severity of the infraction or misconduct.
- Suspension – Forced withdrawal from the College for either a definite period of time or until stated conditions have been met. Normally, suspension shall extend through a minimum of one regular long semester (with summer sessions not counting in the one semester minimum time lapse). However, suspension may exceed the one semester minimum.
- Expulsion - Permanent forced withdrawal from the College. A student receiving disciplinary expulsion shall have the action noted in his/her permanent record.
- When cheating, collusion, or plagiarism has occurred beyond any reasonable doubt, the instructor may give the student or students involved an “F” on a particular assignment or in the course. [See Scholastic Dishonesty FLB(Local)] The instructor shall make a written report of the incident and of the planned action to his Department Chair. The Department Chair shall report the incident and action to appropriate instructional dean who shall review the case, notify the student and, if necessary, take further action. This may involve either probation or suspension of the student or students in question. If such disciplinary action is deemed necessary, the Vice-President of Student Services shall be notified, and the action shall be taken through that office.
