Academic Integrity Policy:
Academic misconduct includes cheating, plagiarism, collusion, and falsifying academic records.
The Department of English expects its students to adhere to the college’s code of student
conduct, as outlined in both the Student Handbook. Plagiarism includes the following:
(1) Cheating: In English classes, cheating is defined as the appropriation, borrowing, theft,
purchase, or obtaining by any means work composed by someone else and submitting it under
one’s name;
(2) Insufficient Citation: Writing one’s paper but including passages copied exactly from the
work of another (un/published, printed, electronic) without providing footnotes, endnotes, or
parenthetical notes that cite the source and quotation marks or block indentation to indicate
precisely what has been copied
from the source; and
(3) Patch Writing: This form of plagiarism entails the writing of passages that are not copied
exactly but that have been borrowed from another source, with some changes. When following
the language of a source text, students are expected to use fresh words and fresh sentence
structures. In short, if you have any questions about or problems with your writing or source
material, please consult me BEFORE one submits the assignment for credit.
Attendance Policy: Ponder ISD Attendance Policy

A student may withdraw from a course on or after the official date of record. It is the student’s
