Test times will be announced on Canvas.  In the event of a missed test, grades will be noted as a zero (0) unless there is a documented excused absence.  If excused, the student may make up test with-in two days of returning to class. This is exempt on final testing.

 

The department does not recognize a ‘D’ grade as the passing of a course. Re-enrollment is required for course completion.   A student that receives a grade lower than 75% on a weekly test or assignment has the opportunity to correct all missed answers one time only to  potentially bring their grade up to 75% ( to receive the 75% all missed answers must be corrected). This is exempt on final written and practical exams.

 

Students are required to follow policies and procedures of conduct as stated in the Departmental Student Handbook.

Course Grading

This is a 10-week course.  Written exams will utilize objective questions and answers will be recorded either on scantron answer sheets or directly on tests.  A final practical exam will be given to demonstrate proper techniques of various haircuts.

NCTC seeks to implement its goal of providing quality technical programs leading directly to careers in semi-skilled and skilled occupations, and quality technical education programs up to two years in length leading to certificates and associate degrees by offering a coherent sequence of courses with appropriate breadth and depth to prepare students for success in the workforce.

It is the purpose of the Cosmetology Department to provide students with a positive learning environment and a pathway to career success in the Cosmetology Arts and Sciences.  The student is educated to a degree of competencies that will enable them to systematically and professionally perform the required skills of their licensure.
